HP Wireless Printer Setup and troubleshooting For Macbook Pro

Steps to setup the HP printer for Macbook Pro

  1. Make sure that your printer and computer (that you want to print and scan from) are connected together
  2. You can use the Ethernet cable or a wireless connection to connect to the network
  3. The Apple software update will allow you to install the HP driver
    • Select System Preferences from the Apple menu
    • Click on Printers & Scanners
    • Check if your printer is listed under Printers
    • If available remove and re-add printer to confirm communication:
    • Click on your printer name and delete it
    • Click on Add Printer or Scanner
    • Select your printer name
    • Click on Next
  4. If unlisted
    • Connect the printer and the Mac with a USB cable or on the wireless network
    • Resolve any connection issues and proceed to the next step
  5. Select the name of your printer under the Print Using menu
  6. Click Add
  7. Click on Download and Install when prompted to install the software
  8. If you get the message Software is currently unavailable then download the latest software from : 123.hp.com/softwaredownload
  9. Close the System Preferences
  10. Try to print a test page or fax or scan
  11. In case of a failed installation or unavailability of Printer software you can use the following steps:
    • Make sure you download the latest printer driver software available at : 123.hp.com/driver download
    • The Macbook PRO should have the most current updates on it
    • Verify the Mac’s connection to the internet
    • Try using the AirPrint if you are connected to the network
    • Click on the Add
    • From the Print Using menu select AirPrint
